Hello, friends!
If you are celebrating Christmas, I think you are going to love the following decorating ideas I gathered for you! they are simple, easy, made of natural materials and thus safe to use and re-use year after year. Some, you can even eat! ;) They will give you the perfect excuse to get together with your loved ones and make some wonderful memories in the process.
I’ve discovered these ideas as I was gradually looking for more natural and sustainable ways to decorate (I’ve switched to all wood, ceramic, glass ornaments and fabric ribbons). The older I get, the more I long for and seek simplicity and ease in all aspects of my life.
These ideas are also reminiscent of my childhood. Growing up in Romania, we would decorate the trees with popcorn garlands, candy, natural acorns and fabric bows, ceramic figurines, gingerbread cookies and glass ornaments.

WOOD BEADS GARLAND
It takes only 4 things to put this together and a cozy afternoon! Great activity to do with the kids since even the little ones can help with the stringing. Learn how to make it here.
If you are not feeling crafty, you can purchase it here (6ft), here (8ft), here (with red beads mixed in) and here for a colorful version.

DRIED CITRUS SLICE GARLAND
I love how colorful this is! if you have some citrus fruits that have been laying around for a while and are getting a little dry, this would a great project to turn them into! Here is how to make it (and much easier than you’d think).
To purchase, here, just the slices here, and a fun one made of multiple citrus fruits here.

GINGERBREAD ORNAMENTS
I have done these in the past to decorate my gifts as you can see in the photo but you can totally use them to decorate your Christmas tree as well. And they are SO easy to make and bake! Here‘s how to make them.
And here, you can purchase some already made and here, as a garland and wreath. And, because it’s 2020, some cute ones with masks on here.

NATURE ORNAMENTS
Nature, as always, provides us with so much abundance and inspiration! a twig, a branch, a cone… endless possibilities! Learn here how to put these together.
To shop them, here are some natural pine cones, golden pine cones, birch bark stars, and some clear quartz crystal ones.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these ideas!
Now, are you celebrating Christmas? and if so, have you decorated your tree yet?
In US, people seem to decorate theirs sooner and sooner but growing up, I remember my father getting the tree very close to Christmas and decorating it right before. But this year, I have to say, I am all for the extra cheer, lights, gifting, decorating and Christmas movies galore.
Okay, friend! I hope you are safe, and warm, and if you’re decorating your tree, tell me about some of your favorite ornaments and if there is a special one that you’ve kept through the years.
A couple of years ago, the mother of a student I tutored gave me a beautiful Earth globe ornament with steps drawn across the Atlantic signifying my crossing and moving to the US, accompanied by a very touching message. It’s still a very much treasured possession.
Much love,
Roxi

I love this post! What a great idea, making your own Christmas decorations! My mother used to make her own decorations and it gave such a special meaning to Christmas!
Stay safe my dear friend and keep writing!

Thank you so much, dear Laura, for your sweet comment and encouragement! I am so glad you loved the post – and I am thinking that when your little ones will be a little older, you could start your own Christmas traditions with them, maybe even making Christmas tree decorations together :) tight hug!
