Virginia is the loveliest in the fall time!
For the past 8 years, as I have made my home in the Shenandoah Valley, I have truly come to love and cherish this time of the year. It is, by far, my most favorite season to spend in US.

The Fall Foliage, the festivals, the farms, markets and orchards; the abundance of pumpkins, apples, plums and gourds.

The crisp, sunny mornings and the looooong and bright afternoons where you can just walk outside in a t-shirt; the soft evening light spilling over a kitchen table with the home slowly filling with the spicy-sweet scent of cinnamon and homemade baking.

The gentleness of a quiet, but content life.

What more can you ask for? if you’re loved, your home is warm and safe, and something delicious is simmering on the stove top.
Fall time distills and reduces all things to the most important.

I think I love the slowing down the most.
The itchiness I get to buckle down and do the reflective work pushed back or neglected during long, intrepid summer days.
When early nights in provide the best excuse to seclude oneself just with your thoughts and a good book.

As fall times takes, it also gives.
Cold fingers around a warm mug, slowly and gratefully sipping that first sip of coffee. Scarves, and gloves, and woolly sweaters to accompany the misty breath.
Long walks in the woods, footsteps on crunchy leaves. And best of all, laughter-filled gatherings.

The season allows naturally for more time to sleep and rest, more time to bake and more time spent with our loved ones.
The hearth, central to any household, is finally kindled.

In Virginia, this time of year, the mountains are a sight to behold.
The lakes too!

And then, there’s the moon.
The harvest moon. The blue moon. The hunter’s moon.
The night sky pierced with cold, glass-like embers, a portal to dreams and the unknown.
And a final surrendering to the expansive darkness, with all its moods.

I love fall time for all these reasons and so much more!
How are you enjoying the season, and what brings you joy this time of year? Scroll all the way down and tell me!
Much love,
Roxi
